Corfu Town at Dawn

We arrived in Corfu after a night plane to Athens and a quick layover. We got our car and headed into Corfu town. The city looked amazing with it's twin fortresses glowing in the dawn light. The city was quiet - a combination of being pre-tourist season and just after sunrise. Perfect for strolling the streets and shooting pictures of the fortresses and colonial buildings...

Corfu Town Harbor

After strolling through Corfu Town, we headed north up the windy coast road, stopping by the odd roadside turnout to walk down a small village alley or down to the rock shoreline for a view of the incredibly clear Adriadic Sea. Across the channel we could see the outline of the Albanian coast. In fact, our favorite radio station in the car was Radio Albania! An odd mix of pop and obscure European songs. We finally ended up in the quaint fishing village of Kasiopi where we checked into our hotel, walked around the town and rested by the pool for the rest of the day.

London

Day One - Aili and I have a 10-hour layover in London, arriving from LA around Noon and leaving for Greece tonight for an overnighter to Athens, then Corfu. Just enough time for a tube ride downtown and walk down the Thames with some stops for a pint or two at pubs along the river. We headed first to St. Paul's Cathedral, then walked across the pedestrian bridge toward the Tate Modern and then along the river. We stoped into the Clink mueseum, site of the original London Dungeon. Of course we had to go in - the requirements of travelling with a professional criminalogist! It was a beautiful, sunny spring day in London, perfect for a day of strolling the streets of merry old England! We continued our walk to the Tower Bridge and past the City Hall - a view that's an excellent example of the coexistance of old and new London.
